Green Electronics the Battle is On

The battle to turn the masses green promises to be a long one, but thanks to sites like 2greenthumbsup.com the messages are crossing the lines of communication. We’re talking about the environmentally friendly shade of green, not the St. Patrick’s Day green.

2greenthumbsup has started posting Simple Green Ideas to spread the good green word and promote awareness of green practices. Their most recent simple green idea talks about green electronics. They’ve provided a list of links to online resources where consumers can search for and review electronics, appliances and other consumer products.

We all have electronic devices and appliances and it’s unfortunate that they don’t last forever. The good news is that when these devices do give up or give out, we can make educated, responsible, and environmentally friendly choices when purchasing their replacements.

We are also reminded that we shouldn’t just toss our old electronic devices. They can be diverted from the landfills by donating them to groups or organizations who can refurbish them or who can at least recycle them in an appropriate manner. This simple green idea points out that there are places like daycare centers that raise funds by collecting empty inkjet printer cartridges and cell phones and selling them to recycling companies.

2greenthumbsup is on to something here and we’ll definitely be checking back in on them to see what other interesting green ideas they have to share.
